What We Do
People think we are an illiteracy program, but really, we are an essential skills program. We offer foundational training in communication skills, working with others, numbers, digital skills and interpersonal skills like teamwork, collaboration, customer service skills ... it depends on the need.
If you are looking for work or looking for better opportunities, this is the place for you.

This is what we do!

VOLUNTEER
We have many ways that you can get involved to help members of our community gain knowlege, skills and confidence to reach their potential in the job market and in life!
We need tutors, Board members, help at our fundraising events and more! Contact Sue at 19 Whitewood Avenue East or call 705-647-4040.

CHARITABLE DONATIONS
In February of 1990, the Literacy Council of South Temiskaming held its inaugural meeting. In August of the same year, we became an incorporated Council and, one month later, we received charitable status which allows us to issue official receipts for donations.
This means that not only will you be helping the community but you will also be able to deduct the donation on your tax return!
You can donate through Canada Helps. Click on the Please Donate button at the right to donate.
BEQUESTS & TRUSTS
The greatest gift is one that keeps on giving. We would be honoured to help arrange trusts and various other tax deductable donations of a more complex nature. Have your Estate Planner/Legal Councellor contact us for details.
